The BSA Ralock showcased a blow-back hammerless breech block design with semi-automatic functionality. The action mechanism included a blow-back breech block in the shape of an almost quarter-circle segment. This block pivots at the base and locks back when the integrated trigger guard and underlever are pulled down, effectively cocking the rifle. Additionally, this action exposes a storage compartment below the rifle for the fired empty cases.
When it comes to firearms as a whole, the Ralock is more than just an old-fashioned artifact; it represents a unique rimfire rifle design that is unlikely to be replicated. With its radial locking action, enclosed receiver, and limited availability, it offers a sense of exclusivity for those who own and collect this rifle.
Unlike other rimfire rifles of its time, the Ralcok stands out as an aged example of a takedown rifle with distinctive features extending beyond its disassembly mechanism.
